Guide to Making Your Class Book

  • Identify someone to be the class book leader. This will be the person that will be responsible for:
    • Creating the book project within Fotocodex
      • Deciding which book format would work best for your class (size, hard back or soft back)
    • Deciding who will be the group of editors
      • Sending invitations out to the editors via the invitation manager
  • The group of editors needs to decide what the book’s flow will be
    • Create categories to mark the flow
      • A time based flow is the most common. Hence some categories might be:
        • beginning of school
        • christmas concert
        • spring festival
        • graduation/end of year
      • In addition you might organized photos by:
        • field trips
        • class room photos
        • playground
      • Interesting events to capture outside of the school are: birthday parties
    • Once the structure is established then it is time to invite the parents
      • Use the invitation manager to send out invitations to all parents
    • Everyone begins uploading their selected photos into the proper categories
      • Editors should verify that the photos are being uploaded into their proper places
    • Once you have enough coherent content you can begin to create the book’s pages
    • Everyone who has accepted the invitation will be able to review the book's progress at anytime.  However only the editors will be allowed to make changes to it.
    • Once the book is thought to be complete, review it meticulously
    • Publish it!
    • Once the book is published you may begin to place orders for it.

A few tips:

Buik orders are always cheaper. If we have to make 10 copies of the same book we can take advantage of some production efficiencies which reduces the over all cost. We pass this cost saving over to you through the form of volume discounts.

Shipping charges will be cheaper if we ship all copies to the school and let the school deliver the books to the parents.  This also saves on packaging and hence reduces the overall environmental impact our service has.
