How to Fotocodex Your Wedding
Here are some simple steps to follow in preparing for making your wedding album with Fotocodex.
Step 1: Create the categories
Decide how you want your wedding told. This is called the "flow". A popular album flow is time based. The pages represent the flow of time through the wedding. You'll want to create the structure for this flow before you invite your wedding guests to begin uploading their photo selection. In the Fotocodex system photo are organized into "categories". For instance common wedding album categories are:
- bachelor parties
- rehersal dinner
- the wedding
You'll find the option to create categories within the Gallery pages of your album project.
Step 2: Send out invitations
Using the invitation manager located in your project page you can send out invitations via email to all your wedding guests. This email provides your guests with access into your project. All they will need to do to contribute their photos will be to click on 1 of the links included in the email.Guests may contribute by logging into the system and using the photo upload function. This will properly attribute the photos they upload to their user name. Guests may also opt for an anonymous contribution which does not require that they have a Fotocodex account. They may upload directly into your wedding project but the system does not automatically attribute their contributions to them.
In your email invitation please encourage your guests to participate. They also should be encourage to upload their photos into the proper categories. This will save you a lot of time later on!
Step 3: Decide who, if anyone, you would like to be editors
Your album has at least 1 editor, you, but you can also add additional editors if you wish. You may select editors from amongst those guests that have accepted your invitation and are Fotocodex users. Editors are indicated by clicking the checkbox alongside their name on the invitation manager page.Step 4: Select from the uploaded photos
You will probably want to make a final selection from those photos that have been uploaded. You will probably also need to do some reorganizing as your guests may have not properly uploaded the photos into the correct category. You will find the option to move a photo into another category within the category page itself. The option exists right along side the actual photo in a pull down menu. One method would be to make a new category called "discarded". Every photo that you do not wish to include should be moved to "discarded".
Step 5: Begin creating your album pages
Once you have enough content you can begin creating your albums pages. You will always have the option to reorder either the photos or the pages at any point in this process.Step 6: Reviewing your album
You'll reach a point where you believe your album is complete. Please review it carefully using the page visualizer under the album option. Make any corrections necessary.Once you have reviewed your album several times and are happy with its pages then you may publish it. This will close your project and prevent any further changes be they uploaded photos or any editing of pages.
